The "2025 MGM Macao International Regatta," co-organized by the Macao Special Administrative Region Government Sports Bureau, MGM, and Ursa Major Sailing Event Management, will be held from January 8 to 12, 2025. One of the highlights of this event is the introduction of the "World Match Racing Tour - Macao Match Cup," a special event recognized as a world championship level by the World Sailing Federation. The Macao leg will serve as the opening event for the 2025 season of the World Match Racing Tour, alongside the "Lotus Cup Regatta" IRC category and the "Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta" IRC category, forming the three groups of sailing competitions in the "2025 MGM Macao International Regatta."

The World Match Racing Tour (WMRT), established in 2000, is one of the most prestigious global sailing events, awarded the status of "Special Event" by the World Sailing Federation. The overall champion of the tour is granted the title of World Champion.

The Macao International Regatta will showcase the combined effects of major sports events, further enhancing Macao's international standing as a world center of tourism and leisure. At the same time, by hosting high-end international sailing events, it will enrich local sports events, contribute to the development of Macao's sports tourism industry, promote the "1+4" moderately diversified economic development, support the construction of the "City of Sports," and use sports to strengthen Macao's reputation as a world-class city.
